Chapter 3 - The Frozen EmpireBack on the forty-second floor, the panic was spreading faster than a spilled glass of champagne.

Jonathan’s phone buzzed aggressively against the mahogany desk. It was the chief financial officer of Whitmore Construction, his voice trembling over the speakerphone. "Boss, we have a massive problem. All corporate operating accounts have been slapped with an emergency injunction by a family court judge. Our payroll check clearances for Friday just bounced."
"Bounced?" Jonathan shouted, standing up so abruptly his chair crashed backward against the glass wall. "What do you mean they bounced? Call the bank! Tell them it's a clerical error!"
"I already called them, Jonathan," the CFO stammered. "They said the injunction was filed under a class-action corporate fraud provision initiated by Claire Whitmore as a primary shareholder and guarantor. They’ve frozen everything—even the escrow funds for the municipal project."
Victoria stood up, her winter-white dress rustling sharply. "What is happening? If payroll bounces, the subcontractors will walk off the site by noon. The city will cancel our contracts!"
Jonathan stared at her, realizing with sickening clarity that the life he had curated was evaporating in real-time. He grabbed his phone and dialed Claire directly. It went straight to voicemail—not her standard greeting, but a crisp, automated message stating that the number was no longer accepting calls from this device.

"She blocked me," Jonathan whispered, his hands trembling as he stared at the eleven tabs of financial ruin.
"Fix it, Jonathan," Victoria hissed, her polished facade completely cracking. "Fix it right now, or I walk out that door and pretend I never met you."
