Chapter 16 - The Wedding Under the StarsThe wedding was nothing like the high-society galas Victoria Vance used to throw. There were no paparazzi, no cold corporate executives, and no fake smiles.

It was held right in our backyard beneath the sprawling branches of the old oak tree, strung with thousands of warm fairy lights that twinkled like captured stars against the evening sky.

Sophie served as the flower girl, wearing a delicate white dress with a pink sash that matched her favorite color, proudly scattering rose petals down the grassy aisle.

As I walked down the aisle on the arm of my mentor, Dr. Harrison's former replacement and dear friend Dr. Miller, I looked out at the small circle of our closest friends, colleagues, and family.

Elias stood at the altar, wearing a sharp navy suit, looking at me as if I were the only person in the entire universe. His eyes glistened with unshed tears, and for once, he didn't care who saw.

When I reached the altar, he gently took my hands in his. They were warm, steady, and strong.

"You look breathtaking," he whispered.

"You clean up nice for a real estate developer," I teased softly, earning a quiet chuckle from the guests.

The vows were simple, written in our own words—words of survival, forgiveness, redemption, and unconditional love. And when the minister finally pronounced us husband and wife, Elias pulled me into a deep, passionate kiss as the applause and cheers erupted around us.
