Chapter 8 - The Awakening of the Giant"Elias!" Victoria gasped, her face instantly shifting from venomous hatred to fragile concern. "Thank God you're awake! You need to hear this—she tried to kill us! That woman—"

"Shut up, Victoria," Elias rasped, his voice cutting through the room like a jagged knife. He took a slow, agonizing step forward, dragging his IV pole behind him. The nurses rushed to steady him, but he waved them off with a fierce glare.

He stopped two feet away from Victoria's wheelchair, looking down at her with a disgust so profound it made her shrink back in her seat.

"I remember the truck, Victoria," Elias said quietly, every word dropping like lead weights on the floor. "I remember you screaming on your phone right before impact, telling someone that 'if you can't have me, no one will.' I remember the text message glowing on your screen from Harrison: 'The logistics are set. The truck will hit the passenger side.'"

Victoria's face lost every remaining trace of color. Her mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water. "Elias... that's... that's a concussion talking! You're delirious—"

"I've never been more clear-headed in my life," Elias interrupted, turning his gaze away from her and looking directly at me.

His eyes swept over my tired face, my hospital scrubs, and finally settled on my swollen stomach. The arrogance that had once defined him was completely gone, replaced by a devastating, broken humility.

He took another step, lowering himself slowly—ignoring the sharp pain in his freshly stitched abdomen—until he was on one knee on the cold hospital floor right in front of me.

"Elias, what are you doing?" I breathed, my heart stuttering.

"I walked away six months ago because I was terrified of failing," he said, his voice thick with unshed tears. "I thought building an empire meant protecting myself from mess, from chaos, from real life. But the only thing I built was a prison."

He reached out, his trembling hand hovering inches from my stomach before gently, hesitantly resting against the fabric of my scrubs.

A warm kick answered from within.

Elias let out a ragged, broken sob.

"I don't deserve you, Adelaide," he whispered, looking up at me with absolute devotion. "And I don't deserve this child. But I swear to you, on everything I own, I will spend the rest of my life making it right. Every single dollar, every single asset, every single breath I have—it belongs to you and our family."

The police officers quietly stepped back, exchanging glances. Victoria’s attorney slowly closed his briefcase, realizing the case had just evaporated into thin air.

"Officer," Elias said without looking away from me, raising his voice so the entire waiting room could hear. "I wish to file formal charges of attempted murder and conspiracy against Victoria Vance and Dr. Harrison. I have the voice memos, text transcripts, and dashcam cloud backup saved to my phone right here."

Victoria let out a shrill scream of absolute defeat as the two police officers stepped behind her wheelchair, clicking the metal cuffs around her wrists.
