Chapter 10 - THE FINAL BLOODLINEThe underground bunker was vast, illuminated by harsh industrial floodlights. Rows of computer servers hummed in the background, projecting global data streams across massive wall-mounted monitors.

And waiting for us in the center of the room, sitting in a leather chair with a glass of scotch in his hand, was Viktor Vance.
Standing beside him, trembling and bruised, was Rebecca.
And tied to a metal chair a few feet away, unconscious but breathing, was my son Jake.
"Gabriel," Viktor smiled, standing up slowly and setting his glass down on a steel table. He looked older, his hair streaked with silver and his face marred by the very scars I had given him, but his eyes burned with the same ruthless ambition. "Welcome home. I see you brought friends."
I raised my rifle, stepping past my shadow-units, locking my crosshairs directly onto Viktor's chest.
"It's over, Viktor," I said, my voice echoing off the concrete walls. "End of the line. No more ghosts."
Viktor chuckled, spreading his arms wide. "End of the line? Gabriel, my boy... this is just the beginning. The Black Ledger is fully decrypted. Your son’s DNA has unlocked every offshore account, every safehouse, and every assassin network across the globe. You didn't destroy my empire—you simply put it in a safety deposit box until my return."
He stepped forward, glancing down at Rebecca, who was sobbing uncontrollably.
"As for Rebecca," Viktor sneered, "she served her purpose. She gave us the boy, she created the chaos, and she broke your family apart just like you broke mine all those years ago."
Rebecca looked up at me, terror in her eyes. "Gabriel... please... he forced me... he threatened to kill Jake if I didn't—"
I didn't lower my weapon. I didn't blink.
"You filmed our son being beaten for seventeen minutes, Rebecca," I interrupted, my voice colder than the winter outside. "You laughed. That was the last mistake you'll ever make."
Before Viktor could raise his own weapon, I pulled the trigger.
Crack.
A silenced bullet pierced Viktor’s chest, spinning him backward against the steel table. At the exact same second, Marcus and the shadow-units opened fire, eliminating Viktor's remaining guards in a lightning-fast sweep of coordinated lethal precision.
Viktor slumped to the floor, gasping for air, clutching his bleeding chest as he stared up at the ceiling in disbelief.
"You... you can't kill... the legacy..." Viktor choked out, before his eyes finally went dead and his head hit the concrete.
The bunker fell into a heavy, suffocating silence.
I lowered my rifle, walking past Rebecca without a single glance, and knelt beside Jake. I cut the ropes binding his wrists, pulling my injured son gently into my arms.
Jake groaned, his eyes fluttering open. He looked up at me, seeing the blood, the tactical gear, and the absolute truth of who I was.
For a long moment, neither of us spoke.
Then, Jake managed a weak, exhausted smile.

"Dad..." he whispered, his voice steady for the first time in days. "You really do have some crazy logistics companies."
I held my son tighter against my chest, looking out across the smoking ruins of the past, knowing the shadows would always be there—but this time, we would face them together.
