Chapter 7 - The Arrest of a QueenAs the police hauled a kicking and screaming Vanessa out of the smoldering greenhouse, her designer heels sinking deep into the wet garden soil, the flashing red and blue lights of squad cars illuminated the grand facade of the Caldwell mansion.

Arthur walked slowly up to me, leaning on his cane. He looked at me with deep, sorrowful eyes—eyes that mirrored my own mother's portraits tucked away in the family archives.
"Welcome home, Eleanor... or should I say, Grace," the old man murmured, his voice thick with emotion. He reached out and gently touched the uneven locks of my hair. "I am so sorry for everything you've suffered. For every year you spent in the cold, while we searched in the wrong places."
"It's over now, Grandfather," I replied softly, feeling a weight lift from my shoulders that I had carried my entire life.

Richard stood nearby, looking bruised, exhausted, and profoundly ashamed. He didn't dare approach me directly, knowing the immense gulf of betrayal and trauma his wife had wrought under his own roof.
Within the hour, Vanessa was formally booked on multiple felony charges: arson, attempted murder, kidnapping, and assault. As she was shoved into the back of a police cruiser, she looked out the window directly at me, her expression shifting from fury to pure, unadulterated terror. She finally realized what I had known from the very beginning: you can lock a door, you can cut someone's hair, but you can never erase true blood and rightful destiny.
