Chapter 2 - The Secret Vault of the West WingWithin minutes, the sprawling mansion was thick with an eerie, breathless silence. Richard ignored Vanessa's frantic threats of divorce and police intervention. Instead, he ordered Thomas to unlock the long-abandoned West Wing—a section of the estate sealed off since the tragic night Eleanor Caldwell vanished over two decades ago.

As the heavy brass key turned in the rusted lock, a cloud of dust billowed out into the hallway.
"What are we looking for, Thomas?" Richard asked, holding a flickering lantern high.
"Proof," the old groundskeeper replied grimly. "The original master trust deed. The one your grandfather signed before he passed away. It states explicitly that if Eleanor or any direct heir of her bloodline is ever found, the entire estate, the trust funds, and the corporate holdings revert automatically to them. Vanessa’s prenuptial agreement is completely void if a true-born Caldwell claims the title."
Vanessa followed us down the dark corridor, her high heels clicking frantically against the hardwood. Her face was pale, devoid of its usual aristocratic arrogance. "You can't do this! You're destroying our lives over a maid's trick!"

We pushed open a heavy oak door at the end of the hall. It was a massive, dust-covered study frozen in time. Thomas walked straight to a massive oil painting hanging above an empty fireplace. He reached behind the ornate gold frame, felt around for a hidden latch, and with a heavy clack, a section of the wood-paneled wall slid open, revealing a hidden wall safe.
Inside sat a thick, leather-bound ledger with gold-embossed lettering: Caldwell Family Trust & Last Will.
