Chapter 29 - A Quiet EveningAfter the gala concluded and the last guests departed, I walked out onto the grand stone balcony of the master suite. The night sky was a blanket of brilliant, glittering stars.

I leaned against the marble railing, closing my eyes and listening to the gentle rustle of the wind through the oak trees. No more hidden rooms. No more secret vaults. No more enemies lurking in the shadows.

The estate was mine. My mother’s memory was honored. My soul was at peace.

Footsteps echoed softly behind me. I turned to see old Thomas holding a small, silver-framed photograph.

"I found this tucked away in the very back of the library archives, Grace," Thomas said gently, handing me the frame.

I looked down. It was an old, faded photograph of my mother and me when I was just a baby, smiling brightly under the summer sun before the world tried to break us.
