I stood on the grand balcony once more, wearing a tailored midnight-blue silk dress. My hair fell in sharp, elegant waves around my shoulders, framing a face that had known suffering, betrayal, and ultimate victory.
Old Thomas walked up behind me, handing me a small, beautifully wrapped package on a silver tray.
"What is this, Thomas?" I asked with a warm smile.
"A delivery came for you this morning, Madam. From the state prison," Thomas replied quietly. "It's from Vanessa."
