The vows were simple, written on scraps of paper they had scribbled down at the kitchen island late at night after Avery had gone to sleep.

When it came time for the rings, Ethan slid a delicate platinum band set with three small, brilliant diamonds onto Hannah’s finger—representing the past they had survived, the present they shared, and the future they were building.

"Do you, Ethan Mercer, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?"

Ethan looked down at Hannah, his heart full, the ghosts of his mother's lies finally reduced to ash in the wind.

"I do," he said, his voice ringing clear and strong across the lawn.

"Do you, Hannah Brooks, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

Hannah smiled, her fingers intertwining tightly with his.

"I do."

"You may kiss the bride."

As Ethan pulled her close, sealing their vows with a deep, tender kiss, the autumn wind rustled through the maple trees, and Avery let out a cheerful, musical giggle that made everyone laugh.
