Chapter 19 - The Proposal

Elias opened the velvet box. Inside rested a ring—not a massive, ostentatious diamond meant to impress the high society of Manhattan, but a delicate platinum band set with three small, brilliant stones representing the three lives that had saved his own.
"I spent ten years building a kingdom out of anger," Elias said, his voice steady, clear, and filled with a profound depth of devotion. "I thought power was the only thing that could keep the dark away. But I was wrong."
He looked up into her eyes.
"You and the girls are my home, Ava. Not a fortress. Not a business. A home. Will you stay with me? Not just as someone I protect... but as my wife?"
Tears spilled over Ava’s lashes, but this time, they were tears of absolute, unvarnished joy. She threw her arms around his neck, burying her face against his shoulder as a soft sob of happiness escaped her lips.

Across the room, Chloe and Claire stopped chasing their ball, turned around, and let out a cheerful double giggle as if they understood every word.
