Chapter 19 - THE CROWN OF THE HAYES EMPIREInside the grand study of the Hayes Estate, the fireplace crackled with a warm, comforting flame. Noah and Aria were fast asleep upstairs, tucked safely in their beds under the watchful eye of the household staff.

Daniel poured two glasses of aged scotch, handing one to Maya as she walked into the study, her elegant evening dress still whispering against the floor.
"You handled that rifle like a seasoned professional," Daniel remarked with a faint, admiring smile, taking a sip of his drink.
Maya took the glass, swirling the amber liquid gently. "Growing up on the streets teaches you a few survival skills you never expect to use. But I'm glad it's finally over."
Daniel stepped closer, taking the glass from her hand and setting it gently on the desk. He reached out, his warm palms cupping her face, his dark eyes filled with a deep, consuming love.
"When I lost Elena, I thought my heart had turned to stone," Daniel spoke softly, his voice trembling slightly with emotion. "I thought I was cursed to live out my days surrounded by ghosts and enemies."
Maya looked up into his eyes, her heart swelling with an overwhelming warmth. "And now?"
"Now, I realize the darkness was just preparing me to find my true queen," Daniel whispered. He slipped a stunning, vintage diamond ring—gleaming with the exact same emerald stones as her dress—onto her finger. "Marry me, Maya. Not as a strategic alliance. Not just to protect the kids. Marry me because you are the light that brought my soul back from the dead."

Tears shimmered in Maya’s eyes, bright and happy. She threw her arms around his neck, burying her face against his chest.
"Yes," Maya choked out, a radiant smile breaking across her face. "Yes, Daniel. A thousand times, yes."
