Chapter 14 - The Hidden Clause

Hook: A forgotten signature in an old estate deed changes the math of the corporate war in one fell swoop.
Before Elena could raise her hand to call the vote, the boardroom doors flew open once more. Marcus Cole marched in, wheeling a heavy, antique hand truck loaded with massive steel lockboxes.
"Sorry to interrupt the family reunion," Marcus growled, dropping a heavy metal box onto the table with a deafening thud. "You might want to check the fine print on the original 1982 estate charter, Ms. Vance. The one signed by the original founders before your father started cooking the books."
Elena scoffed, though a flicker of unease crossed her eyes. "Old paper means nothing in modern corporate law."
"Except when that paper dictates the land rights of the entire estate," Adrian said, realizing what Marcus had found. He stepped forward and popped the latch on the lockbox, pulling out a vellum-bound document. "My grandfather placed the core real estate assets—including the land beneath this very skyscraper—into an irrevocable community trust. If the company attempts liquidation or hostile asset stripping outside of domestic operations, the land automatically reverts to..."
Adrian paused, looking down at the name written in bold, unyielding ink.
"...to the employees of Whitmore Infrastructure, administered by the Thomas Keane Foundation."
The color drained entirely from Elena's face. She snatched the document from Adrian's hands, her eyes scanning the legal clauses frantically. The trust was airtight. If she liquidated the company, she would walk away with zero real estate equity, zero capital assets, and a mountain of federal debt.

"You can't do this," Elena whispered, her composure finally cracking. "This company is mine by blood!"
"No, Elena," Adrian said, his voice ringing with absolute authority. "It belongs to the people who actually built it."
