Chapter 6 - The Corporate Coup

Hook: While Adrian fights for his life in a slum, a silent boardroom coup strips him of his company, his wealth, and his freedom.
Adrian pulled his smartphone from his wet pocket with trembling fingers. The screen lit up with a notification: Urgent Board Resolution: Emergency Leadership Transition.
His eyes scanned the corporate alert in disbelief. Five minutes ago, while he was trapped in the apartment, the board of directors had held an emergency remote session. With Arthur Vance invoking emergency bylaws due to "CEO incapacitation and severe mental instability," the board had voted unanimously to strip Adrian of his voting shares, freeze his personal accounts, and appoint a proxy CEO—none other than Victoria Vance, Arthur's ruthless corporate lawyer daughter.
"You... you planned this for weeks," Adrian whispered, looking up at the aging attorney.
"Power doesn't keep itself, boy," Vance sneered, stepping backward out into the hallway. "You should have stayed in your office looking at your spreadsheets. Enjoy your new life as a penniless nobody."
Vance turned and sprinted down the stairs, leaving Adrian standing alone in the wrecked kitchen with Marissa and her mother.
Marissa looked up from the floor, her eyes wide with absolute despair. "They took everything from you... because of me. If you hadn't followed me here, you'd still be a billionaire."

Adrian looked down at the bruised knuckles of his hands, then over at the terrified young mother holding her child. For the first time in his life, he didn't care about the money. The billions in equity, the sprawling stone estate, the endless reports—it was all built on a foundation of blood, lies, and stolen lives.
"No, Marissa," Adrian said, helping her to her feet and meeting her gaze with fierce determination. "They didn't take my life. They just gave me a reason to take back everything they stole."
