Chapter 38 - Sunrise on the Estate

The sun rose over the Caldwell estate, casting a brilliant, golden hue across the sprawling lawns and the newly renovated pediatric clinic taking shape near the west wing.
Inside the main house, the morning routine was peaceful. Ethan stood in the kitchen, preparing bottles for the twins while Hannah sat at the island, reviewing the final draft of the Vance Foundation charter.
The front door opened softly, and the head of estate security walked into the foyer, placing a manila envelope on the counter before nodding respectfully and walking out.
Ethan opened the envelope. Inside was a legal notice confirming that Victoria Caldwell had voluntarily surrendered herself to federal authorities an hour earlier, submitting a full, unredacted confession regarding the events of twenty-five years ago. Dr. Richard Vance’s name was officially, permanently cleared of all fraudulent allegations, cementing his legacy as a pioneer of modern medicine.
Ethan slid the paper across the counter, looking at Hannah with soft, unreserved adoration.
“It’s really over,” Ethan said softly. “The debts of the past have finally been paid.”
May you like
Hannah looked down at the paper, then smiled, walking over to wrap her arms around his neck. “No, Ethan. The past isn't a debt anymore. It’s a foundation. Everything we went through—every trial, every tear, every drop of blood—brought us right here.”
From the nursery upstairs, the faint, happy gurgle of the twins echoed down the hallway, a reminder of the future they had fought so desperately to build.
