Ethan turned to Hannah, pulling her close against his side. He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small, velvet-covered box, snapping it open to reveal a brand-new platinum wedding band, engraved on the inside with a single inscription: From the ashes, forever.
“We never got a proper honeymoon,” Ethan murmured, his dark eyes shining with quiet emotion. “And we never had a chance to start over without the shadows of the past hanging over us.”
Hannah looked down at the ring, tears of pure joy pricking the corners of her eyes. She smiled, looking up into the eyes of the man who had fought through hell to find her in the operating room a lifetime ago.

With the Chicago skyline glittering brightly in the distance, they stood together on the balcony—unbroken, unstoppable, and home at last.
