Chapter 15 - The Unraveling

The rain began to fall over Atlanta just as dusk settled, slicking the asphalt and casting a gloomy, oppressive gray over the Buckhead district.
Inside the grand foyer of the Sterling family manor, Robert was pouring himself a stiff glass of bourbon when the heavy oak front doors didn't just knock—they were forcefully pushed open by three uniformed federal marshals accompanied by local police detectives.
Robert dropped his glass. It shattered against the marble, amber liquid splashing across the floor.
“What is the meaning of this?!” Robert shouted, stepping backward as the lead detective strode into the hall holding a crisp legal document.
“Robert Sterling?” the detective asked flatly. “We have a federal warrant for the arrest of Olivia Sterling on charges of conspiracy, cyber-stalking, wire fraud, and coordinated harassment targeting a minor.”
The color drained entirely from Robert’s face. He grabbed the back of the sofa for support. “This is insane! My daughter is not here! She’s—she’s at the penthouse!”

“We already secured the penthouse, Mr. Sterling,” the detective replied coldly, holding up a pair of steel handcuffs. “And she’s currently being transported to the precinct. But since you’re her primary financial guarantor and co-conspirator in these wire transfers, you’ll be coming with us for questioning as well.”
Before Robert could protest, two officers stepped forward, gently but firmly guiding his arms behind his back. The proud, untouchable patriarch of high-society Atlanta was marched out into the cold rain, his bespoke suit ruined, his empire reduced to a smoking ruin of legal indictments.
