Chapter 20 - Full Circle

The evening reception was filled with music, laughter, and the rich scent of home-cooked food prepared by local chefs.
Late into the night, after the guests had trickled away and the estate grew quiet, Michael and Sophie walked out onto the second-floor balcony, looking out over the sparkling lights of Atlanta.
Sophie leaned her head against Michael’s shoulder, wrapping her arms around his waist.
“Do you ever think about how crazy it all was?” she asked softly. “If you hadn't come home early that day... if you hadn't seen what was happening in the kitchen...”
“I would have married a stranger who hated the world,” Michael answered honestly, kissing the top of her head. “And I would have missed out on the only person who taught me what love actually looks like.”
