Chapter 18 - The Gala of a New Era

One year after the Slack message sent shockwaves through Boston’s corporate elite, the annual Sterling Capital Innovation Gala was underway inside the grand ballroom of the Seaport Hotel.
The room glittered with crystal chandeliers, champagne flutes, and the brightest minds in technology, venture capital, and global enterprise.
At the center of the grand stage stood Claire Prescott.
She wore a magnificent, floor-length midnight-blue gown embroidered with subtle silver thread that caught the light like distant stars. Her posture was relaxed, her smile radiant, and her voice steady and commanding as she addressed the room of five hundred industry leaders.
"Three years ago, I believed that value was something granted to you by association," Claire spoke into the microphone, her voice echoing clearly across the hall. "I believed that if you stood quietly in the background, supported the ambition of others, and kept the machinery running behind closed doors, your contribution would eventually be seen."
The audience listened in absolute, rapt attention.

"I was wrong," Claire continued, a confident smile touching her lips. "True power isn't about standing beside someone who shines. It’s about building your own room, lighting your own fire, and refusing to let anyone dim your clarity."
Thunderous applause erupted across the ballroom, rolling forward like a tidal wave. Photographers' flashes lit up the stage like summer lightning.
