Chapter 4 - The Emergency Board Meeting

The boardroom at Prescott Global felt like a tribunal. Twelve board members sat around the massive glass table, their faces grim. At the head of the table sat Richard Vance, flanked by two corporate attorneys.

The doors opened, and Aaron walked in, looking slightly disheveled for the first time in his professional life. He took his seat, forcing an aura of supreme confidence.

"Gentlemen," Aaron began, clearing his throat. "I understand there has been some unfortunate personal drama blown out of proportion by a disgruntled spouse—"

"Quiet, Aaron," Vance interrupted, sliding a printed document across the table. It was a formal complaint filed by the ethics committee, alongside real-time analytics showing a 14% drop in stock value since morning trading opened. "This isn't just personal drama. Your wife didn't just post a tweet; she triggered a compliance review. Furthermore, we’ve just received notification from Sterling Capital."

Aaron frowned. "What does a venture capital firm have to do with us?"

"They just acquired a controlling stake in our primary supply chain partner," one of the board members spoke up, his voice trembling with anger. "And their legal representation has informed us that they are auditing all corporate contracts involving executive misconduct and misappropriation of company funds."

Aaron’s heart skipped a beat. "Misappropriation? I haven't misused company funds."

"Jasmine Cole's salary, her company-leased apartment, and her international travel expenses were all billed under marketing consultation fees," Vance said coldly. "Your wife’s legal team has already submitted a preservation of evidence request to our financial controller. Aaron, you are done here."
