Chapter 25 - The Final Threshold

Midnight fell over London, painting the misty city skyline in shades of deep indigo and neon gold.
Claire stood alone on the private balcony of her executive penthouse suite overlooking the sparkling Thames. The city below hummed with endless motion, millions of lives intersecting, colliding, and striving for power.
She held a glass of sparkling water, taking a slow sip as she looked out at the horizon.
She thought back to the morning of the fifth time Aaron stayed out all night. She remembered the cold quiet of the Chestnut Hill mansion, the endless pressing of designer shirts, the lonely hours spent wondering if she would ever matter in a world built entirely around vanity.
How foolish she had been back then to think she needed any of it.
Her phone lay on the glass table behind her, completely silent. No desperate calls. No toxic demands. No anchors dragging her down into someone else's fragile illusion of success.
