Chapter 17 - A New HorizonWith the multi-million-dollar trust fund now officially transferred into a secure, diversified educational and living fund for Maya and Leo, the practical pressures of the future dissolved entirely. Arthur decided it was time for a permanent fresh start.

"How would you guys feel about a road trip?" Arthur asked at the dinner table that evening, sliding a brightly colored travel brochure across the wood.

Maya picked it up. The cover displayed the majestic, pine-covered coast of coastal Maine, dotted with historic lighthouses and quiet oceanfront towns.

"Is this where we're going?" Leo asked, his eyes wide with excitement.

"We're packing up the house, selling this place, and moving somewhere peaceful where we can build a brand new life," Arthur announced, a warm smile spreading across his face. "No ghosts, no corporate monsters, just ocean air and room to breathe."

Maya beamed, throwing her arms around Arthur's neck. "Yes! Let's go tomorrow!"

Within three weeks, the suburban house where the nightmare had begun was sold to a cheerful young couple looking for a suburban start. Arthur packed their belongings into a heavy-duty moving truck, locked the front door behind him for the very last time, and never once looked back in the rearview mirror.
