Chapter 28 - A Promise KeptBack in New York, the evening breeze carried the gentle scent of blooming roses from the estate garden.

Roberto and Sofía sat together on the wooden bench beneath the old oak tree in the backyard. The sun was dipping below the horizon, painting the sky in brilliant shades of amber, violet, and deep rose.

Sofía rested her head comfortably against her father’s shoulder, holding her stuffed rabbit tightly in one hand.

"Daddy?" she asked softly.

"Yes, princess?" Roberto answered, wrapping his arm securely around her.

"Do you think Mommy can see us right now?"

Roberto looked up at the evening stars beginning to twinkle in the vast expanse of the night sky. He felt a profound sense of peace wash over his soul—a deep, unshakeable certainty that the darkness had finally been conquered by the light.

"I don't just think so, sweetheart," Roberto whispered, kissing the top of her head as a gentle breeze rustled the leaves above them. "I know she can."
