Chapter 13 - The Estate at Dawn

Far from the sterile gray walls of the federal prison, the Moretti estate stood bathed in the golden light of a crisp autumn morning. Inside the grand music room, the air was filled with the soft, elegant notes of a Chopin nocturne. Isabella Moretti sat at the grand piano, her fingers moving across the ivory keys with a fluidity and precision that doctors had sworn was medically impossible.
Naomi stood beside her, leaning against the polished mahogany wood, turning the sheet music with a gentle touch.
Luca walked in quietly through the French doors, carrying a silver tray with two cups of espresso. He set the tray down on a side table and walked over, wrapping his arms around Naomi’s waist from behind, pressing his face into her neck.
"The federal judge just denied Vivien’s final motion for bail reduction," Luca murmured against her skin, a low, satisfied rumble in his chest. "It’s over, Naomi. She’s locked away for good."

Naomi leaned back into his warm embrace, resting her hands over his arms. "I never doubted it would end this way, Luca. People like Vivien always build their houses on sand."
Isabella finished the final bars of the nocturne, the music fading into the quiet corners of the room. She turned on the piano bench, looked up at her son and daughter-in-law, and smiled—a radiant, knowing smile that spoke of a dynasty finally healed, fortified, and safe.
