Chapter 19 - The Legacy of the Morettis

The winter snow fell heavily over Chicago, wrapping the iron gates and sprawling stone towers of the Moretti estate in a blanket of pristine, untouched white.
Inside the grand ballroom, a magnificent Christmas tree stretched toward the vaulted ceiling, glowing with thousands of warm amber lights. A three-year-old boy with dark curls and sharp, striking eyes ran across the Persian rug, laughing as he chased a golden-wrapped ornament across the floor.
Isabella sat in a velvet armchair near the marble fireplace, her hands steady, her fingers gracefully playing a soft Christmas carol on a small tabletop keyboard.
Naomi stood by the tall arched windows, watching the snow blanket the city skyline. Luca walked up behind her, sliding his heavy wool coat around her shoulders and pulling her flush against his chest.
"Penny for your thoughts, Mrs. Moretti?" Luca whispered, kissing the top of her head.

"I was just thinking about the night I walked into this house as a maid," Naomi said softly, a peaceful smile playing at the corners of her lips. "I thought I was just taking care of an elderly woman who needed help."
"You walked into a war zone and changed the history of this family," Luca corrected gently, turning her around to face him. "You are the heart of this empire, Naomi. Without you, there is no Moretti dynasty."
