Chapter 15 - The Healing Touch

The private medical wing of the Moretti estate had been converted into a sunlit therapy room, filled with climbing ivy and expansive windows overlooking the manicured gardens.

Dr. Aaron Vance, the family’s longtime neurologist, packed up his digital diagnostic pad and looked up at Naomi with undisguised amazement.

"In thirty years of neurology, Mrs. Moretti, I have never seen motor recovery progress this rapidly," Dr. Aaron said, shaking his head. "The neural pathways in Mrs. Isabella’s right arm have formed entirely new bridges. Her mobility is at ninety percent."

Isabella smiled, flexing her right hand and closing her fingers into a strong, firm fist. She looked at Naomi and tapped the back of Naomi’s hand with her fingertips—a gesture of profound gratitude and affection.

"It’s not just the physical therapy, doctor," Naomi said softly, kneeling beside Isabella’s chair. "It’s the will to play again. When you give someone a reason to fight for their home, the body remembers how to survive."

Dr. Aaron nodded respectfully, packed his bag, and excused himself from the room.

Later that evening, Luca stood in the doorway of the therapy room, watching his mother and his wife laughing together as they worked on a complex crossword puzzle. The haunting memories of the night he almost lost everything—the splintered door, the burning riverfront, the cold fear in his chest—dissolved completely into the warmth of the present. He had risked a war to save his mother, but fate had given him something far greater: a woman who saved them both.
