Chapter 15 - THE PILOT'S DILEMMA

Michael stared at the dead screen, his knuckles gripping the edges of the mahogany desk so hard the wood splintered beneath his fingers.

The pilot’s voice crackled over the cockpit intercom. “Mr. Thornton, we’re forty minutes out from Heathrow airspace. The British regulatory board has our landing slot reserved for 8:00 AM sharp. If we turn back now, the merger defaults automatically.”

If he turned back, he lost the empire. He lost the legacy he and Caroline had built, the company his father had bled for, and his entire standing on Wall Street.

If he kept flying to London, he might never see Sarah or Lily alive again.

It wasn't even a choice.

“Captain,” Michael said, his voice ringing with absolute, unyielding authority. “Cancel the London landing slot. Punch in coordinates for a direct, unregistered descent to a private airstrip in Portland, Maine. Full throttle.”

“Sir? Are you sure? That will cost us the entire British acquisition—!”

“Do it!” Michael roared, slamming his hand down on the console. “Now!”
