Chapter 16 - THE ABANDONED HANGAR

The gray dawn of coastal Maine was biting and desolate.

An old, rusted aviation hangar sat at the edge of a private, disused airfield surrounded by dense pine forests. Inside, the damp concrete floor echoed with the sound of dripping water and the howling ocean wind.

Sarah sat tied to an old wooden chair, her wrists bound with industrial zip-ties, her green eyes blazing with furious defiance as she glared at the man standing before her.

Lily was curled up on a dusty old cot in the corner, wrapped in a heavy wool blanket, too exhausted and terrified to cry anymore.

“You’re insane, Julian,” Sarah spat, struggling against her restraints. “When Michael finds you, he will strip you of every last cent you have left and throw you in a hole.”

Julian Vance laughed, pacing back and forth across the concrete with a silver lighter clicking open and closed in his palm. “Let him come! By the time your precious billionaire lands his private jet on this godforsaken strip, Thornton Enterprises will have already filed for bankruptcy in London. He’ll arrive with no money, no title, and no power. Just a broken man with nothing left.”

Suddenly, the deep, thunderous roar of jet engines shook the corrugated metal roof of the hangar.

Dust rained down from the rafters. The wind from a descending aircraft slammed against the sliding doors with deafening force.

Julian stopped pacing, a sudden flash of panic crossing his face. “Impossible... he couldn't have made it back this fast!”
