Chapter 17 - THE ENTRANCE OF A GHOST

The heavy iron doors of the hangar didn't just open—they were blown violently off their industrial rollers as the reinforced bumper of Michael’s armored SUV smashed straight through the barricade.
The vehicle slid across the icy concrete, coming to a screeching halt just ten feet from Julian’s position.
The driver's door swung open.
Michael stepped out into the freezing wind. He wasn't wearing his tailored suit jacket anymore; his white dress shirt was unbuttoned at the collar, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, his eyes burning with a cold, relentless fury that made Julian take an involuntary step backward.
“Looking for me, Julian?” Michael asked, his voice cutting through the whistling wind like a razor.
Julian panicked, pulling a small nickel-plated revolver from his coat pocket and grabbing Lily off the cot, pressing the cold barrel directly against her temple.
“Stay back, Michael! One step and I scatter her brains across this floor!” Julian shrieked, his voice cracking with unhinged desperation.

Michael froze. Every muscle in his body went rigid.
“Let her go, Julian,” Michael warned, his voice dropping into a quiet, lethal register. “This is between you and me.”
