Chapter 20 - THE DANCE CONTINUES

Six months later, the grand ballroom of the Boston Public Library was filled with floating white candles, classical string quartets, and the soft, joyful laughter of dozens of children.

It was the annual Spring Charity Gala, hosted by the Thornton-Mitchell Foundation for Pediatric Care.

In the center of the polished hardwood floor, wearing a brand-new pink dress and shiny silver shoes, stood an eight-year-old girl with a crooked barrette in her brown hair.

Opposite her stood a tall man in a tailored tuxedo, trying very carefully not to step on her toes.

“You’re still doing the box step wrong, Michael,” Lily giggled, her green eyes sparkling with mischief.

“I told you, kiddo, I have two left feet,” Michael smiled, spinning her gracefully under his arm as the string quartet swelled.

Along the edge of the ballroom, Sarah stood leaning against a marble pillar, wearing an emerald-green silk gown that caught the candlelight, watching them with a deep, unbreakable peace in her heart.

Michael caught her eye across the room. He smiled, gently guiding Lily toward her mother, stepping in close so all three of them were swaying together to the music.

No more ghosts. No more empty penthouses. No more rainy steps outside abandoned school dances.

As the music faded into the warm Boston night, Michael looked down at Sarah and Lily, knowing with absolute certainty that he had finally found the only thing in the universe more valuable than a billion-dollar empire: a family to dance with forever.
