Chapter 15 - Face-to-Face on the TarmacJessica froze, her eyes widening in absolute terror as she stared at me. The woman she had giggled at while she shivered under a bucket of dirty water was now standing before her like an absolute queen.

"Cassidy..." Jessica breathed, her voice trembling violently. "Please... don't do this. We didn't do anything to you!"

I stopped two feet away from her, looking down at her tear-streaked, panicked face.

"You stood in my house, Jessica, and laughed while your boyfriend's mother humiliated me," I said softly, every word carrying the weight of a hammer. "You complained that my wet shoes might ruin your expensive linen. Well, look where we are now. No linen. No designer clothes. Just cold, hard reality."

"You ruined our lives!" Jessica screamed, lunging forward in a desperate attempt to scratch my face, but the federal marshals intercepted her instantly, forcing her arms down behind her back.

"No, Jessica," I replied coldly, turning my back on her as the officers led her away in handcuffs. "You built a house of cards on someone else's foundation. I merely knocked on the door."
