Chapter 5 - The Eviction Notice"Pack your bags," Arthur announced loudly, clapping his hands together to cut through Diane’s hysterical wailing. "Or rather, don't. You aren't taking anything that doesn't belong to you. And by our forensic accounting, none of the clothes on your backs were purchased with legitimate funds."

"You can't do this!" Jessica screamed, her makeup running in streaks down her cheeks. "You can't throw us out on the street! It's freezing outside!"

I turned my back on them, walking slowly toward the grand double doors. The water from my hair had stopped dripping, but my dress was still damp against my skin. Yet, I felt lighter than I had in three years of marriage.

"Give them twenty dollars for a cab and make them disappear," I said smoothly, quoting Diane’s exact instructions from less than an hour ago.

Arthur smirked. "Right away, Madam CEO."

As I stepped out onto the front porch, the cool evening air hit my face. A sleek, matte-black Maybach was waiting at the curb, its door held open by my personal head of security. I slid into the leather backseat, resting a hand gently on my stomach.

Behind me, the sound of shouting and weeping echoed through the open doors of the mansion as the Morrison family was bodily escorted off the premises, stripped of every single cent they possessed.
