The morning sun filtered through the bulletproof glass of the Vance Tower penthouse, casting golden geometric patterns across the Persian rug. Claire sat at her custom walnut desk, reviewing the Q3 acquisition proposals for the newly rebranded Vance-Mercer Real Estate Group. Her fingers flew across her laptop keyboard, every stroke deliberate and precise.

A sharp, staccato knock sounded at the door before it swung open. Marcus stepped inside, his expression tighter than usual.

"Mrs. Vance," Marcus began, his voice dropping into a low register. "We have a breach at the perimeter of the private estate in Westchester. Security detained an unauthorized individual trying to scale the east gate."

Claire exhaled slowly, feeling a flicker of old, discarded fear try to claw its way back up her throat. But it vanished as quickly as it came, replaced by the heavy, impenetrable armor Julian had helped her forge.

"Tell him the only thing he has a right to right now is a cell block," Claire said without looking up from her screen. "Call the federal marshals. Remind them that he is currently violating three distinct restraining orders."

Marcus gave a sharp nod. "Consider it done, ma'am."
