Chapter 6 - The Tiger Awakens

Three thousand miles away, in the sun-drenched penthouse suite of the Beverly Hills Hotel, Ethan Mercer poured himself a glass of twenty-year-old Macallan. Beside him, Sabrina curled against the velvet cushions, scrolling lazily through her phone, her Hollywood agent whispering promises of upcoming blockbuster contracts.

Ethan checked his Rolex. It was past noon in New York. Claire should have been out of the Park Avenue apartment by now, packing her cheap suitcases into some dingy motel room or calling her parents to beg for shelter. Good riddance. She was an anchor dragging down his social standing, a dull chapter in a life destined for Hollywood glitter and high-stakes corporate dominance.

His phone buzzed on the glass coffee table. Expecting a routine notification from his corporate PR team regarding the finalization of the asset transfer, Ethan picked it up with a smug grin.

It wasn't PR. It was an urgent alert from his chief financial officer.

“Mr. Mercer. Emergency wire transfer notification. Five million dollars has been cleared from corporate reserves under an unlisted secondary account authorized by... Vance Holdings.”

Ethan’s smile vanished. He stared at the screen, his chest tightening. Vance Holdings? Julian Vance didn’t do business with mid-tier real estate firms like Mercer Development. Julian Vance destroyed them.

His phone rang instantly. It was his lead corporate attorney, sounding breathless and terrified.

"Ethan, you need to look at the Manhattan civil court filings right now," the attorney blurted out. "A comprehensive injunction was filed thirty minutes ago. Every single asset, bank account, and property deed tied to your name has been frozen under a federal restraining order."
