Chapter 39 - The Unbreakable Thread

Autumn arrived with a brilliant canopy of amber and crimson leaves falling across the estate grounds. Sophia was turning five years old, and preparations for her birthday party were underway with an enthusiasm that turned the historic mansion into a festival of color, balloons, and handmade paper decorations.
On the morning of her birthday, Sophia woke up to find a massive, beautifully wrapped box sitting at the foot of her bed. Taped to the top of the box was a card written in Dante’s neat, precise handwriting: To the girl who taught me how to open doors. Happy Birthday.
Inside the box was a custom-built wooden dollhouse—an exact, hand-painted miniature replica of the Rickai mansion itself, complete with tiny furniture, working lights, and a tiny, perfectly carved yellow blanket resting on a miniature bed in the master suite.
Sophia gasped, her hands flying to her mouth in pure, unadulterated awe. She ran down the stairs as fast as her legs could carry her, shouting for Dante and Lena before throwing her arms around Dante’s knees with a force that nearly knocked him off balance.
"Thank you, Mr. Dante! It's the best castle in the whole wide world!" she squealed.

Dante knelt down, lifting her up into his arms and pressing a gentle kiss to her cheek. "You're very welcome, birthday girl. Just remember—no wandering into the master suite without knocking."
Lena stood in the doorway, watching them with tears of pure joy glistening in her eyes. The house that had once echoed with cold, unforgiving silence was now overflowing with life, laughter, and unconditional love.
