Chapter 13 - The Blackout Strategy

"What did you do?!" Victor roared, panic bleeding into his voice as he fumbled blindly in the red strobe-lit darkness, trying to find the manual override on his detonator.

"I just isolated our frequency," Chloe's voice drifted from the shadows, completely calm, unmoored by the flashing red lights. "The C4 triggers require a localized RF signal to detonate. But the moment you entered this sector, our quantum-encrypted firewall jammed every wireless band within a five-mile radius. Your detonator is just an expensive paperweight now, Victor."

A heavy, metallic thud echoed through the tunnel as Victor lunged blindly toward where he thought she was standing, his fist connecting only with empty concrete air. He stumbled forward, gasping for breath in the heavy, ozone-tainted air.

"You think you've beaten me?!" Victor screamed into the empty corridor, his sanity fracturing as the strobe lights pulsed faster. "Your father's empire is still built on a foundation of sand! The global regulatory committee is holding an emergency vote right now to strip Vance International of its international licensing! Even if you survive this tunnel, you wake up tomorrow as a nobody!"

"Let them vote," Chloe stepped out directly beneath a pulsing red strobe, her expression an absolute mask of corporate coldness.

As she spoke, heavy pneumatic hissing filled the corridor. The reinforced security blast doors at both ends of the tunnel unlocked with a sharp click and swung open, revealing not a trap, but a full tactical squad of federal agents led by Arthur Vance himself.

Arthur strode through the haze of smoke and red light, his eyes burning with absolute paternal fury. He didn't look at Victor. He walked straight to his daughter, placing a heavy, proud hand on her shoulder.

"The regulatory committee already voted, Victor," Arthur said, his voice cold as winter ice. "Unanimously in our favor. Because five minutes ago, Chloe's automated audit protocol exposed your shell corporations to the international banking commission. You're broke, you're exposed, and you're finished."
