Chapter 16 - The New Dynasty

The sun rose over the New York skyline, casting a brilliant, golden hue across the glass facade of the Vance International tower. Inside the executive suite on the forty-fifth floor, the massive mahogany desk was clear of clutter, save for a single, framed photograph.
It wasn't a picture of corporate galas, high-profile acquisitions, or celebrity gatherings. It was a polaroid taken on a rainy Tuesday morning months prior—a picture of Chloe in an ill-fitting, gray maid uniform, kneeling on marble floors with bleeding hands, staring defiantly into the camera before the storm truly began.
Chloe stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows, holding a cup of black coffee, watching the bustling city below her command.
Her intercom chimed softly.
"Madam CEO," her executive assistant’s voice crackled through the speaker. "The European trade delegates are waiting in Conference Room A. And the federal prosecutor’s office has confirmed that all remaining frozen assets from the Thorne syndicate have been fully transferred to our philanthropic fund."

"Send the delegates in," Chloe replied smoothly, her voice carrying the quiet, unshakable weight of an empire. "And tell them I’ll be there in one minute."
She took a final sip of her coffee, set the cup down, and turned away from the window. The past was a graveyard of broken enemies. The future belonged entirely to the queen.
