Chapter 10 - The Shocking Queen

Three weeks later, the sun shone brightly over the lush gardens of the Montero estate.
Lucía sat in a plush armchair on the sunlit terrace, holding her tiny, healthy baby girl, Elena-Sofia, wrapped in a pink cashmere blanket. The paleness had left her cheeks, replaced by a radiant glow of happiness and recovery.
Alejandro walked out onto the terrace, carrying two cups of tea. He set them down and knelt beside his wife, gently kissing her forehead and touching the baby’s tiny fingers.
"The company is restructured," Alejandro whispered softly. "My mother has moved to the countryside. Valeria and Vance are facing twenty years in federal prison. It's finally over, Lucía. You and Sofia are safe. We can rebuild our family."
Lucía looked down at him, her dark eyes swirling with a mysterious, unreadable depth. A subtle, sharp smile played on her lips.
"Rebuild?" Lucía asked quietly. "Alejandro... do you really believe you were the only one playing chess?"
Alejandro frowned, confused. "What do you mean?"
Lucía reached into her handbag and pulled out a worn, black leather diary, tossing it onto his lap.
"Seven months ago, I didn't just leave because your mother threatened me," Lucía revealed, her voice dropping into a tone of quiet, lethal authority he had never heard before. "I found out about Valeria and your mother’s plot two weeks before they confronted me. I knew every wire transfer, every forged document, and every move Vance was making."
Alejandro’s breath hitched. "You knew?"
"My mother wasn't just a gardener, Alejandro," Lucía continued, her eyes holding his with unshakeable power. "Before she died, she was the secret co-founder of the Gran Imperial Hotel group. Your grandfather stole her equity forty years ago when she was young and defenseless. I took the job as a maid at the Gran Imperial on purpose—not to suffer, but to access their internal server room and recover my mother’s original stock certificates."
Alejandro opened the diary. Inside were legal deeds, proving that Lucía personally owned fifty-one percent of the Gran Imperial Hotel Chain—the very property where he had found her.
"I let your mother intimidate me," Lucía said softly, leaning closer. "I let Valeria think she was winning. I waited until you walked into that lobby so you would see the truth with your own eyes. I needed you to break away from your mother’s toxicity on your own so we could build something real. You thought you rescued me from that floor, Alejandro..."

Lucía stroked his face gently, her smile radiant and absolute.
"...but the truth is, you were just walking into my hotel."
