Chapter 3 - The Web of Serpents

Alejandro caught the paper. It was a non-disclosure and departure agreement, stamped by the legal firm representing Montero Enterprises. At the bottom was his mother’s elegant signature—and right next to it, listed as the notary witness, was the signature of Valeria Cruz.

"Valeria?" Alejandro’s voice was barely a breath. "She was my mother's legal assistant back then..."

"She wasn't just an assistant," Lucía revealed, tears streaming down her pale cheeks. "Valeria was hired by your mother to replace me. Doña Elena promised her a piece of the Montero fortune if she successfully drove me out and stepped into my shoes as your new wife. They planned this for over a year, Alejandro!"

Alejandro recalled the past three months. Valeria had introduced herself to him at a corporate gala as if by sheer coincidence. She had been attentive, sympathetic to his heartbreak, slipping into his life like silk. Every touch, every gentle word had been a orchestrated trap.

Suddenly, a heavy knock echoed through Lucía’s door.

Alejandro motioned for Lucía to stay back and yanked the door open. Standing in the hallway were two burly men in dark suits—the personal security detail belonging to Doña Elena Montero.

"Mr. Montero," the lead security guard said, surprised to see his boss. "Your mother sent us. She was notified by the hotel manager that... a former employee was causing trouble."

"Is that right?" Alejandro walked out into the corridor, closing the door firmly behind him. His eyes burned with an icy, lethal fury. "Tell my mother that her employee is coming home with me. And tell her to gather the entire board of directors at the estate tomorrow morning. It's time for an audit."
