Chapter 8 - The Viper’s Trap

Two days later, Doña Elena called an emergency board meeting at the Montero Headquarters to officially strip Alejandro of his title as CEO.
The boardroom was packed with shareholders, lawyers, and press. Sitting at the back of the room, smiling triumphantly, were Valeria and Gabriel Vance.
Doña Elena stood at the head of the table, holding the gavel. "Due to Alejandro Montero’s erratic behavior and neglect of corporate duties, I move to remove him as Chief Executive Officer and appoint Valeria Cruz as interim director of operations."
"I second the motion!" Vance declared loudly from the back.
Before the board could vote, the heavy double doors of the boardroom burst open.
Alejandro walked in, wearing a crisp charcoal suit, his gaze as sharp as a diamond. Behind him walked three federal prosecutors and team of forensic accountants.
"You're a bit late to your own execution, Alejandro," Doña Elena sneered.
"I’m right on time for yours, Mother," Alejandro said calmly, tossing a thick dossier onto the center of the table. "Before you vote on my removal, perhaps the board would like to examine the wire transfer records from the family trust."

Doña Elena’s face went pale. "What are you talking about?"
"Valeria Cruz isn't your loyal prodigy, Mother. She is Gabriel Vance’s wife," Alejandro revealed, pointing at the couple. "Over the last seven months, while you thought you were using her to control me, Valeria has been funneling trust funds into offshore accounts registered under Vance Logistics. She embezzled over eighty million dollars from Montero Enterprises—and your signature is on every transfer."
