Chapter 11 - The Empire's True Heiress

Alejandro stared at the leather diary on his lap, the cold weight of its contents settling into his bones. The woman sitting across from him—the same woman he had pitied as a helpless victim scrubbing floors—was in fact the controlling shareholder of the very hotel chain where he had found her.

"You played everyone," Alejandro said softly, a mixture of awe and residual pain in his voice. "My mother, Valeria, Gabriel Vance... even me."

"I played the hands that were dealt to me, Alejandro," Lucía corrected, holding baby Sofia close. "When your mother offered me millions to walk away, I knew if I simply fought back then, she would have destroyed my family. I had to let them think they won. I needed Valeria to commit treason against Montero Enterprises so that when the hammer dropped, it would destroy them completely."

Before Alejandro could fully process the reality of his wife's shadow network, his phone buzzed violently on the glass table. It was an urgent notification from his chief security officer.

"Boss," the officer's voice crackled through the speaker. "Gabriel Vance’s legal team just posted a high-risk bail bond in international court. But that’s not the worst part. Vance didn't act alone. His older brother, Hector Vance—the shadow head of the Vance Syndicate—just landed at Toluca Airport on a private jet."

Alejandro’s eyes darkened. Hector Vance was a cartel-backed oligarch notorious for hostile corporate takeovers executed through violence and blackmail.

Lucía set her tea cup down with absolute composure. "Hector Vance isn't coming for Montero Enterprises, Alejandro. He's coming for the Gran Imperial. He knows I have the stock certificates."
