Chapter 6 - Ambush at the Penthouse
Alejandro tore through the city streets, running red lights, his hands gripping the steering wheel until his knuckles bled. His mother had played her trump card: using bribed city officials and fake psychological reports to declare Lucía an unfit mother and seize the baby the moment it was born.
When Alejandro arrived at the penthouse, emergency lights flashed blue and red against the glass facade.
Two men in dark coats were trying to force Lucía into the back of an unmarked van while she screamed, fighting with every ounce of strength in her fragile body.
"Get your hands off my wife!" Alejandro shouted, launching himself at the lead operative. He slammed the man against the side of the van, knocking him cold, while his personal security detail neutralized the second attacker.
Alejandro pulled Lucía into his arms. She was hyperventilating, clutching her stomach in agony.
"Alejandro... the stress..." Lucía gasped, her face twisted in excruciating pain. "The baby... something is wrong!"

Blood was staining the bottom of her light gray dress.
"Doctor!" Alejandro yelled, lifting Lucía into his arms and carrying her toward his SUV. "Call the hospital! Now!"
