Chapter 16 - Blood in the Ring
Lucía signed the transfer papers with a trembling hand, sliding the documents across the table to Hector Vance.
Hector grinned, examining the signatures. "Pleasure doing business with you, Mrs. Montero." He motioned to his men. "Kill Alejandro. Make it look like a tragic murder-suicide between him and his maid wife."
"Wait!" a voice screamed from the hallway.
A loud explosion rocked the corridor outside. Smoke bombs erupted, blinding the mercenaries. Through the haze, a figure rushed into the room firing a shotgun with frantic, wild precision.
It was Doña Elena.
"Get away from my family!" the old woman screamed, firing wildly into the mercenaries.

In the chaotic crossfire, Alejandro surged upward, slamming his elbow into the mercenary holding him down. He tackled Mateo to the ground, punching him viciously in the jaw until the traitor dropped baby Sofia onto the soft velvet couch.
Lucía lunged forward, grabbing her daughter and clutching her tightly against her chest as bullets tore through the room’s bookshelves and artwork.
