Chapter 16 - The Whistleblower’s EvidenceSarah gestured toward the plush velvet armchairs opposite her mahogany desk. "Sit down, Jessica. Tell me what you know."

Jessica took a cautious seat, opening her handbag to pull out a worn, battered flash drive and a faded spiral notebook.
"Michael and my uncle didn't just steal from the corporate accounts," Jessica explained, her voice trembling slightly. "They set up a secret shadow corporation called Apex Holdings right before your wedding. They used it to buy commercial real estate properties in Queens under false identities, intending to liquidate them the moment Michael made partner."
Sarah leaned forward, her professional instincts kicking into high gear. She plugged the flash drive into her secure desktop terminal.
Lines of hidden corporate registries, property deeds, and financial ledger spreadsheets immediately populated her screen.
"This isn't just embezzlement," Sarah whispered, scrolling through the property values. "This is multi-million-dollar real estate fraud spanning three states."
"My father helped them set it up," Jessica admitted, tears welling in her eyes. "He died six months ago, but before he passed, he left me this notebook with all the passwords and bank routing codes. He told me that if Michael ever crossed the line, I had to bring it to you."
Sarah looked across the desk at the young woman, seeing the heavy burden of guilt and honesty resting on her shoulders.
"Why are you giving this to me, Jessica? You could have sold these properties yourself and kept the money."
"Because I have a two-year-old daughter," Jessica said softly, looking straight into Sarah's eyes. "And I refuse to let her grow up knowing her family built their lives on lies and stolen futures. I want to do the right thing."
