Chapter 29 - The Final Protocol"Sophie!" Adrien turned back toward the doorway, where the young woman had just materialized, her face set in an expression of grim, absolute resolve.

"They're not trying to destroy them, Adrien," Sophie said, her voice strained as she fought against the staggering computational load of the orbital override. "They're trying to recall the seed data. If the synchronization completes, Theo, Miles, and Nora's biological consciousness will be uploaded into the orbital relay, and their physical bodies will..."
She didn't need to finish the sentence.
Adrien drew his heavy sidearm, leveling it not at an enemy, but straight up at the ceiling pillar of light. "How do we stop it?"
"You can't stop it with lead or steel," Sophie said, stepping directly into the blinding pillar of silver energy beside the triplets. The light washed over her small frame, making her look fragile yet infinitely powerful. "The orbital relay is anchored to a physical uplink station hidden deep beneath the Antarctic ice sheet—the original, secret facility where the parent beacon was buried fifty years ago before the Vanguard ever found it."
Adrien grabbed Sophie by her shoulders, his fingers gripping her coat with desperate urgency. "Then take me there. Open a portal, override the system, do whatever you have to do—but save my children."
Sophie looked up at him. For a fraction of a second, the ancient, universal intelligence dimmed behind her eyes, replaced by the warmth of the girl who had lived under his roof, eaten Elena’s cookies, and called him her warden.
"Hold onto me, Adrien," Sophie whispered.
She raised her right hand, her thumb pressing against an invisible seam in the air, and clicked her fingers.
