Chapter 20 - A KINGDOM REBUILT

A year later, the sun shone brightly over the manicured lawns of the newly christened Morgan-Carter Estate in upstate New York.

There were no guards with tactical gear, no dark corporate secrets hiding in the vaults, and no shadows lingering in the hallways.

Lily, now five years old and wearing a bright yellow sundress, ran across the green grass, chasing a golden retriever while clutching Mr. Bear firmly under her arm.

Rebecca sat on a white wooden porch swing, leaning comfortably against James’s shoulder as he wrapped his arms around her waist.

A small, sticky hand tapped gently on James’s knee.

James looked down. Lily stood there, holding a freshly picked dandelion flower with a serious, grown-up expression on her face.

"Here you go, Daddy," Lily said solemnly, offering the yellow blossom. "I told you I’d pay you back when I grew up. But since I'm still little, this is for keeping Mommy and me safe forever."

James smiled, taking the fragile flower as if it were a diamond worth billions. He scooped her up into his lap, kissing the top of her head as Rebecca laughed softly in the afternoon breeze.

"It’s the greatest payment in the world, Lily," James whispered, looking out over a future that was finally, perfectly their own.
