Chapter 10 - A NEW BEGINNINGOne week later, New Year’s Eve.

The storm had passed, leaving the city blanketed in a pure, glittering white. Grace sat in a breathtaking office on the top floor of the newly restructured Sterling Tower.
James entered, holding a thick stack of legal documents tied with a red ribbon. He set them on the desk in front of her.
"What is this, James?" Grace asked, looking up at him.
"During the investigation, the federal auditors liquidated Richard's illegally seized assets," James explained with a warm, genuine smile. "They found fifty million dollars that had been laundered under your stolen identity. Because of the trauma and false imprisonment threats you endured, the court has officially transferred the entire sum into a trust fund for you and Chloe."
Grace stared at the paper in total shock. "Fifty... million dollars? James, I can't accept this—"
"It’s yours, Eleanor. Or Grace—whichever name you choose to live by now," James said softly, sitting beside her and taking her hand. "You don't ever have to work in the cold dark again. Chloe will have the best education, the safest home, and everything she ever dreamed of."
Chloe burst into the office, holding a gigantic teddy bear that was bigger than her, laughing joyfully as she ran toward James.
"Look what Santa left for me in the lobby, Mommy!" Chloe giggled, jumping right into James's lap.
James laughed, wrapping his arms around the little girl, his eyes meeting Grace’s. The cold, lonely man who used to hide in an empty restaurant on Christmas Eve was gone. In his place was a man who had finally found a home.

"So," James smiled, his voice filled with hope for the future. "Where should we spend our next Christmas?"
Grace looked at her daughter’s happy smile, then back at the man who had changed their lives forever.
