Chapter 7 - THE GALA OF LIESThe grand ballroom of the Sterling Grand Hotel was a spectacle of wealth and corruption. Hundreds of elite investors, politicians, and news reporters mingled under crystal chandeliers, sipping champagne while festive orchestral music played.
At the center stage stood Richard Sterling—a silver-haired, cold-eyed man in a thousand-dollar tuxedo. Behind the heavy velvet curtains offstage, Grace was bound to a chair, her mouth taped shut, while two guards held a crying Chloe in a locked side room.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Richard spoke into the microphone, his voice echoing across the ballroom. "On this Christmas Day, we celebrate the absolute success of Sterling Enterprises. Today, we finalize the full consolidation of our global assets!"
The crowd applauded wildly. Richard smiled triumphantly, preparing to sign the legal documents on the podium.
Suddenly, the heavy oak double doors of the ballroom were thrown open with a deafening crash.
The room fell dead silent.
James Sterling walked down the center aisle in a tailored black suit, flanked by federal agents and heavily armed private security.
