In the executive conference room on the top floor of headquarters, the remaining uncorrupted board members sat in respectful silence as Evelyn and I entered.
There was no hostility left in the room. The vacant board seats were empty, waiting to be filled with leaders dedicated to ethical reform. And sitting at the right hand of the Chief Executive wasn't a compromised senior analyst hiding from debt collectors anymore. It was the newly confirmed Chief Financial Officer of the entire global enterprise.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Evelyn announced, standing at the head of the mahogany table, her voice ringing with absolute, unshakeable authority. "The restructuring of our firm is complete. We move forward into a new era of absolute accountability."
