Chapter 20 - THE FINAL TWISTOne year later.

The corporate empire was stronger, cleaner, and more profitable than it had ever been in its history. Evelyn and I stood together on the private terrace of the coastal resort where it all began, watching the golden harbor lights shimmer across the evening water. The humid coastal breeze carried the sweet scent of salt and night-blooming jasmine.

We weren't hiding anymore. The corporate games, the hostile takeovers, the shadow of my father’s conspiracies—they were all behind us, buried in the history books of Wall Street.

My phone buzzed in my pocket. I pulled it out, expecting a routine financial report from corporate headquarters. Instead, it was an encrypted digital notification from the federal prison archives upstate, containing a final, unsealed legal codicil left behind by my father before his final sentencing.

I opened the document, my eyes scanning the single paragraph of text.

Evelyn noticed the change in my expression, turning to look up at me with curious, steady eyes. "What is it, Austin? Is something wrong?"

I stared at the screen, a slow, stunned disbelief washing over me.

The document wasn't a threat. It was a formal deed of transfer. The secret offshore accounts, the hidden real estate assets across three continents, and the majority voting shares of a shadow holding company that quietly owned forty percent of our primary corporate rival—worth over a hundred million dollars—weren't seized by the state at all.

My father had quietly transferred everything into a single, un-traceable trust fund registered under one name.

To my son, Austin Cole. Proof that you finally won the game.

I looked down at Evelyn, a breathless laugh escaping my lips as I showed her the screen. The CEO of the most powerful corporation in the country gasped softly, her dark eyes widening in absolute shock before a slow, dazzling smile broke across her face.

May you like

"Well, Mr. Cole," Evelyn murmured, wrapping her arms tightly around my neck as the harbor lights cast rippling patterns across her face. "It looks like you're officially wealthier than the board of directors."

"Looks like," I whispered, pulling her close against me as the ocean breeze wrapped around us, "we have a whole new empire to run together."
