Every designer handbag, every luxury watch, and every piece of jewelry purchased with embezzled corporate funds—including my stolen diamond bracelet—was cataloged, boxed, and carted away.
Desperate and penniless, Sabrina tried to salvage her social media influencer career by posting a tearful, victim-blaming video on Instagram.
“People are judging me,” she wailed into her front-facing camera, mascara running down her cheeks. “Grant told me his wife was a cold, abusive shrew who trapped him in a loveless marriage! Within twenty minutes of posting the video, my legal team issued a formal cease-and-desist letter accompanied by a multi-million-dollar defamation lawsuit. Not only that, but Arthur Vance’s digital forensics team uncovered a paper trail proving Sabrina had actively helped Grant funnel embezzled corporate funds into offshore accounts.
By Friday afternoon, Sabrina was arrested at O’Hare International Airport trying to board a one-way flight to Zurich with a fake passport.
When Melanie showed me the mugshot on her tablet during our lunch meeting at a high-end rooftop restaurant overlooking Lake Michigan, I didn't feel anger. I felt a quiet, profound peace.
"She's facing up to ten years for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and international flight obstruction," Melanie noted, taking a sip of sparkling water. "Looks like her influencer career is officially pivoting to orange jumpsuits."
